Waking me from my sleep
At 3 am in the morning
He speaks—
His desires and plans for His children.

It wakes me from my slumber
To sound the alarm
And speak the Truth.
It wakes me, it wakes me, it wakes me

The voice of God is
A script to His prophets
And a post to His watchman.
A guide manual to healthy and holy living

If you listen you will hear it
It is the ghostwriter for the birds in the sky.
If you listen you will hear it
Above the voice of worry and lust

In the moment of emotional distress
Before you react,
Before you make a decision
Listen for the voice of God

Your fingers already typed in the website
And your eyes found pleasure
But before you allow your body to act
What is the voice of God saying?

The voice of God concise and sure,
Powerful enough to intercept
The voices of our sexual needs
Comforting enough to muffle loneliness

Sometimes the noise in our head
Disrupt our ability to pray
And without prayer, we feel all hope is lost
But the voice of God impacts those who listen

Echoing from the four corners of the mind
Unable to be tuned out but often ignored
Cannot be muffled by blunts and alcohol
The voice of God erase the moans of an unholy joining

Speaking above the voice of anger towards a brother
And refuting the desire to isolate from a sister.
An unbiased judge with a disciplinary tone
The voice of God is never silent

The record keeper of archived testimonies
And deleted blessings.
The voice of God contend against
The whispers of His children’s ungratefulness

The voice of God is love.
It is patient and kind
It sings and hums over mankind
Listen for the voice of God
