Blessed is the Man

Blessed is the man who never quits.
Born into poverty,
He grew up with no water or electricity
But he did not lose his thirst or vision for success.
At age 14 he was sent to America,
An unfamiliar land,
In hopes for a better future.
Taken in by relatives who misunderstood and mistreated him,
But his delight was in the Lord
So he planted himself firmly in prayer.
Like a tree by the water, he brings forth
Fruits in every season.
Blessed is the man who is planted in prayer.

Blessed is the man who knows God.
Separated from his family
He adjusted in “the land of the free and the home of the brave”
But how could he be brave
In a land where he did not feel free?
Then he recalled that where the spirit of God is
There is liberty.
So he became a living sacrifice of sweet aroma,
An invitation for God to be Emmanuel.
Blessed is the man that sets the atmosphere
For God to be present

Blessed is the man who suffered in silence
Because the Lord will exalt him publicly
On June 14, 2010,
The Daily News aired a story
Headline: Orayne Williams earns college scholarship”.
The article told the story of a high school,
Young black, undocumented, boy from Jamaica
Who overcame homelessness by earning
A full academic scholarship to college.
He trusted God—
And he transcended barriers and escaped the statistic.
No longer was he that 1 in every 10—
Instead, he was one of God’s blessed man

Blessed is the man
Who is blessed to be a blessing
He hadn’t just survived homelessness
But he thrived,
He framed his life around giving back to others.
Dedicated his time to working in NYC shelters,
Using his experience—
He navigated others into their success.
He saw the need to support youth at risk,
And start a non-profit, funded scholarship,
And established philanthropic partnerships
He bore fruits in all seasons for others to eat

Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Repentance became his lifestyle.
He made a U-turn from paths that led him away from the will of his Father;
He returned to God with all his heart,
With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;
He rendered his heart and not his clothing.
A blessed man return to his God,
Because his God is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, and relents from punishing.
Blessed is the man who returns to his God
Because he knows Him as his Father.

I am that blessed man.

Scripture Support:
Psalm 1:3 “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Joel 2:12-13
“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.”
